Nope, try again

It was bound to happen. You can't spend this long on a project and not have it come up at least once. What you say?

"Sorry folks, but your selection is no longer available."

And so goes the stone we picked out several months ago. Well, stone veneer to be exact. We found a type we liked from Cultured Stone, but when it came time to purchase, apparently our color of choice wasn't available anywhere...not in the 5 state area or beyond.

So, what's a homeowner to do? Keep looking, I guess. We've managed to find some time this week to go look again. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult, but these places don't seem to be open outside of 8 to 5, M-F.

And we got the word today that we might not have such a rush anyway. It appears the mason didn't think the chimney would need to be extended quite as high as it needs to, and he's looking for somebody to blame...or to be more accurate, someone to eat the cost of his mistake. Hmm, think they'll be another mason on the job? (Oh, and to explain, the chimney will be faced with the new stone, as will parts of the front of the house and a couple walls inside.)
